BRICKS is a freeware game and a remake of the Polish 'Klocki' game.

Introduction:

The original game was a small wooden board that could be arranged into several puzzles. The goal of the game is to move the red master brick to a certain position. Sounds easy but it is a real brain teaser since you get more points if you need fewer moves. Besides standard blocks there are other elements which make the game more interesting. There are magnetic blocks which stick together when they touch, magic blocks which are coupled and many other elements.

There are two goals: first, to solve each level and secondly to optimize your solution. Optimizing means to find a solution which needs as few moves as possible. In some cases this is very difficult and it is very likely that the best known solutions on some levels are not optimal.

Game Overview and Download:

When you are visiting the Bricks site for the first time you will be quite confused because of the many Bricks versions to download. Well, here is short explanation why there are so many versions and which one is the best to start with.

Bricks I ... Bricks V:
The first version of Bricks is Bricks I. This is the original game and is has 48 levels. After solving these levels you can send in your solutions and get Bricks II - another game of 48 levels but more difficult. Bricks III, Bricks IV and Bricks V are the other games of these series, getting harder and harder. You can download the (language) Windows version of Bricks I here. The programming was done by Nolan Pflug and the (language) translation was done by (name) and (name).

Each game is packed in a dll-Library which you need to add to the folder where you installed Bricks. For getting the libraries for Bricks II, III and so on you need to send in your score file which a score which is high enough to qualify (see details in the games). The different libraries are detected automatically by the program if they are saved in the same folder. For switching between the games you need to right click on the window frame of the game and to select the game from the appearing menu (see picture below).

Bricks Jr.:
Since even Bricks I is somewhat difficult the easier version Bricks Jr. was designed. This game has also 48 levels and is something like 'Bricks 0'. You can download the Windows version of Bricks Jr. here.

There is no qualifying score for Bricks Jr.!

Custom Bricks I ... III:
Additionally there are the three versions of Custom Bricks. The levels of these games are designed by other Bricks players. The scores are not on this web site, they are managed by Erick Storm (click here). You can download the libraries for all Custom Bricks versions here.

Competition Puzzles:
Besides these games with 48 levels there are also competition games with usually only one level. The puzzle for the bimonthly prize competition can be found here. After solving the puzzle you need to send in your solution before the deadline. With a little bit of luck you might win a prize.

The yearly competition puzzle can be found here. There is no prize for solving it but you can compare your score with other players.

Feedback, Results, Help:

After solving the competition puzzle or any other Bricks game you may send in your solution file to webmaster@bricks-game.de. Currently the records of all games and the competition results are only updated on the English web page, but even if you don't understand that language you will probably find out the facts on that page. If you have questions you should visit the Bricks Forum . Although most entries in the Forum are in English you can ask your question in your language. There are many players from all over the world and there should be someone who speaks your language. Please note that it is not allowed to discuss a solution to a specific level.
